Level 311 is the 312th level in the Backrooms.

Description

Level 311 is a large island with many environs and consists of six subsections. The weather at this level is consistently cold, foggy, and overcast. The level has a normal 24-hour day-night cycle, but the only weather events that occur on this level other than fog would be a light drizzle or, in very rare situations, small hailstones. The temperature hovers around 2.5 degrees Celsius (4.5 degrees Fahrenheit), making the level rather chilly. It's recommended that wanderers wear or bring some form of cold-weather gear.

Throughout most of the level, there are Almond Water springs and wild berries, which are the main sources of food and hydration for most travelers in Level 311. The berries found on this level seem to be a cross between raspberries and blackberries and come in a pinkish-purple color. The berries have no addictive properties, have been found to have a small sanity-restoring effect, and also improve one's mood. There is also a dark green shrub with small blue flowers that can be used to heal minor wounds by crushing it and using it as a salve; as such, it is a popular trade item on the level.

Sub-Regions

Level 311 is split into six different subregions: The Mountains, Safe Zone, Highway, Salt Swamps, Wilderness, and Ocean.

The mountains will most likely be your first introduction to Level 311. The mountains are extremely cold and are almost devoid of resources and entities. Most people die in this section of the level, and as such, this region is riddled with bodies. Another section of the level called the Highway cuts across this section, and following will lead the wanderer to the Safe Zone. This is the safest part of this region, as it is devoid of fog and doesn't have nearly as many entities. There isn't a lot of vegetation growing in this part of the area, and as such, it is quite difficult to find food. There are, however, plenty of almond water streams originating at this level.

Entities

The Hunter

The Hunter is a humanoid entity that is unique to this level. The Hunter seems to be a 7-foot-tall, burly male Faceling who is usually seen wearing a plaid shirt and carrying a shotgun. He primarily hunts the entities found in the Wilderness region of Level 311. The Hunter will help any wanderer leave the wilderness if they give him a bottle of Almond Water or something else of equivalent value.

Do not try to cheat him… He will hunt you down… And you'll find where people like you belong…

The Hunter will rescue wanderers under the age of 16 from the Wilderness region, regardless of whether they have anything valuable on them.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

  • The most common way to enter Level 311 is by crossing the mountains on the eastern edge of Level 10 and following the trail in the mountains. This is also a way out of Level 311 and back to Level 10.
  • An uncommon method of reaching Level 311 is by walking into the forests at Level 873. This will lead to one finding themselves in the Wilderness Zone of the level.
  • There is a chance that if you follow the roads in Level 9 instead of ending up in Level 11, you'll end up near The Highway instead.
  • It is also theorized that if a wanderer swims across the oceans of Level 7 for long enough, they will enter the oceans of Level 311.

Exits

  • When you enter a restaurant along the highway, there is a chance it will take you to Level 6.1.
  • There are rumors of caves that lead to Level 8 in the Wilderness.
  • Entering a small concrete building with glass doors in the Highway, Ocean, or Mountain section of this level will send one to Level -560.
  • Drifting out into the ocean will eventually lead to Level 7.
  • Following the highway into the mountains for a long time will eventually take one to Level 11.
