A staircase deep in Level 48.
Level 48 is the 49th level of The Backrooms.
Description
Level 48 appears as the inside of an Egyptian pyramid, primarily accessed by entering a pyramid on Level 46. It can be described as similar to a maze or labyrinth, divided into 6 stages. Each stage is progressively more difficult than the last, being larger with more and more booby traps. Finding a staircase indicates you have reached the next stage, though once you fully ascend the stairs, there is no turning back. Make sure you bring Almond Water, as keeping your sanity is vital. Along with the booby traps and risk of sanity loss, there is one last danger: an entity known as "The Pharaoh." This specific entity will hunt you down the maze, progressively making each stage more difficult to escape from.
The Pharaoh:
The Pharaoh is the only entity found on Level 48. It is almost entirely made of gold, appearing identical to a living Egyptian sarcophagus. Losing your sanity on this level guarantees being found by The Pharaoh. If you are found, the Pharaoh will grab you, pin you onto the wall, and will do one of four things:
- Beat you to death with a golden rod.
- Transport you back to Level 2, with King Tut's Curse.
- Leave you unharmed and transport you to Level 4.
- Send you to a realm dubbed "The Egyptian's Hell", which is a place worse than the Backrooms. Not much info is known about this place, as no one has ever come back from here. The only information about it is from eyewitnesses who saw their fellow travelers being transported.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
There are no known bases, outposts or communities on this level.
Entrances And Exits
To access Level 48, you must find and subsequently enter a pyramid on Level 46.
To exit, you must survive all the way until you reach the end of the maze. This will take you to the next level. There is also another staircase at the end of the maze, leading to a lengthy hallway. The end of this hallway is a bright light, which leads to Level 666 upon entry. Alternatively, The Pharaoh can transport you to Level 4 or Level 2 if you are lucky, though this is not advised.
