SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 2

  • {$one}
  • {$two}
  • {$three}

Level 81 is the 82nd Level of the Backrooms. This level is very claustrophobic, since it is an air duct system.

Description:

Level 81 series of ventilation shafts interweaving in a maze. It is approx. 40 square miles in size. These shafts are varying in size and can narrow or widen as one progresses through them. The most common size is just comfortable enough to crawl on hands and knees while dragging your supply bag behind you. There are several shafts that are known as “squeezes” where the survivor must belly crawl or wiggle their way through. Large connection areas and open rooms housing generators and indiscernible machinery can be rarely found deep in the center of this level. The vary nature or purpose of this level is unknown, but seems to supply central air conditioning to various levels.
The most common size is just comfortable enough to crawl on hands and knees while dragging your supply bag behind you. There are several areas that are known as “squeezes” where the survivor must belly crawl. There are several hazards on this level to be weary of, vertical shafts appear very often and can be easily slipped into if rushing. Some vertical shafts can narrow at the bottom causing the survivor to become wedged and unable to free them self without assistance. It is highly recommended to travel with a partner and ropes.
Turbines are common and turn on and off at random intervals, most turbines and fans can be jammed with metal to allow a survivor to safely squeeze through. These metal fans can be found in sloped or vertical shafts and can easily mangle survivors
Due to the constrictive nature of this level dead survivors can be found blocking pathways.
Not many entities can move here but some have reported hounds prowling around most likely attracted by a decaying corpse of a survivor. Rarely clumps are also reported occupying the shafts. It is advisable to avoid any noise as some sections are too narrow to move quickly.
Due to the echoing nature of air vents many noises have been reported but no other entities have been witnessed by survivors. **__

Colonies And Outposts

The Shepherds

There is a small group of survivors who live on this level self dubbed “shepherds”. They spend their time maintaining paths by removing corpses from tight sections, mapping the area, marking hazardous with red spray paint, and helping and guiding any survivor they come across. Some survivors have reported being rescued by the “shepherds” after becoming stuck in narrow sections. One survivor said he was found by the shepherds after being stuck in a vertical shaft for three days, his arms pinned to his sides. The shepherds believe that a shortcut could exist here that skips dangerous levels but has not been found yet.

Entrances And Exits:

The only known entrance and exit is any vent found on any level above Level 6. Going into a vent on levels 0-6 will take you to Loss. Entering a air vent does not always guarantee access to this level, but it is common. To exit, come out where you came from or find another entrance in the air vent system. It is advised to pay attention to what lays behind the vent before exiting as many levels can be accessed through this vent.
