Level 981 is the 982th Level of the Backrooms. This level stretches on for what appears to be forever horizontally, but is limited to 4 floors vertically.

Description

This level is what appears to be an infinite hotel consisting of 4 floors. Elevators are available to take you to each floor, but have a chance of being Elevator Entities, so it is best to take your chances at the floor you enter from. For some reason, entities cannot physically get in the elevators, even if a wanderer attempts to push them in. Each floor has their own varying characteristics so they will be included separately below:

Floor 1

SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 1

  • {$one}
  • {$two}
  • {$three}

This is the first floor of this level and is most likely the floor you will start on when you enter the level(as all explorers have reported they entered through this floor). The walls are of a pink/salmon color, differentiating it from the other floors. All doors on this floor will be unlocked and will lead to what are seemingly ordinary hotel rooms. Although this floor has windows, it seems to be impossible to get a good view out of them due to there being more wall behind each window.
Unlike the other floors, this floor has no railing and apparently has multiple currently unidentified species of potted plants, potentially being species unique to this level. It is currently unknown what sustains these potted plants/if they even have all the functions a regular plant has.
Furniture seems to litter this floor, with the rooms themselves having a lesser focus. This could make this floor a good place to rest from the chaos of the backrooms, as the
The only entity to inhabit this floor is Facelings (unless you count the potted plants as an entity.)

Floor 2

SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 2

  • {$one}
  • {$two}
  • {$three}

This is the second floor of this level and is the floor where this level’s only known photo was taken. Hotel rooms are the main focus of this floor, with furniture being nearly devoid. Hotel rooms become noticeably less safe; The walls of the hotel rooms can sometimes be infested with mildew and Clumps may appear rarely.
Approximately half of all doors in this floor are unlocked, although the locked doors seem to be clustered in areas instead of being randomly spaced throughout. Contrary to the first floor, there appears to be some sort of outside past the windows, but due to the nature of the windows design, little to no information can be discerned about the design. The windows seem to be indestructible, as heavy tools have been able to even dent them.
Red “EXIT” signs litter this floor and can guide you out of an area and into the next. Strangely, the exit signs only seem to appear on one side of the floor (that being the left side). It is currently unknown why this is, but it could be due to all of the elevators already occupying the right side.

Floor 3

SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 4

  • {$one}
  • {$two}
  • {$three}

This is the third floor of this level and is the floor where it becomes very dangerous to explore. Lights may occasionally start to flicker, more commonly so in rooms than in hallways. The rooms themselves will take on a deteriorated look; bedsheets and pillows will be torn with random patches of dangerous black mold on the walls.
This floor is architecturally similar to Floor 2, with the small beige hallways, exit signs, and windows. There is one major difference to note, though; All objects attached to the walls (i.e exit signs, lights, even railings) appear to be loosely attached, meaning that even a small disturbance could cause them to fall.
This floor is home to many entities, those reported being: Deathmoths (hallways only), Clumps, Facelings, Skin Stealers, and rarely Window Entities.

Floor 4

SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:

Class 5

  • {$one}
  • {$two}
  • {$three}

This is the fourth floor of this level and is by far the one that is the most dangerous/ the one we have the least information about. This floor seems to be very structurally unstable and is not recommended to traverse. The hotel rooms seem to be ruined to the point of being almost apocalyptic and are infested with entities.
The lights will flicker and will sometimes go off for multiple minutes at a time. This is very dangerous as entities will generally become more active in the dark, although this period can be used to exit the level entirely.
In this floor the following entities are: Deathmoths (hallways only), Clumps, Facelings, Skin Stealers, and Window Entities.

Entities

Listed above, entities (this list is taken from all floors of the level) are: Deathmoths (hallways only), Clumps, Facelings, Skin Stealers, Window Entities, Skin-Stealers, and Elevators.

Bases,Outposts, and Communities

Settlement 13495

  • Rumored to exist in room 13495 (floor unspecified, although it is probably 1)
  • If it exists, has 6-10 people
  • Open to trading

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

The only discovered way to enter this level is by noclipping through the secret room in Level 980.

Exits

There are two ways to exit this level. They are:

  • Noclipping through an object that has fallen from the walls/ceiling to enter either Level 9 or Level 982
  • Wait until the blackout starts on the fourth floor. When the blackout starts, noclipping for an unknown reason becomes significantly easier, and noclipping during this time period will send you to a random dark level (e.g Level 6).
