Level 997 is the 998th level of the Backrooms.
Description
Level 997, otherwise known as "Abnormal Dreams" and "Level Uranus" , is a secret level that consists of sub-levels with multiple confusing physical appearance which are incomprehensively complex. Level 997 defies the laws of physics; going up a hill will instead make one go downhill; holes appearing on the sky; freestanding doors that lead to other sub-levels of Level 997; houses that looks smaller on the outside than the inside; walking straight will bring one to their starting location; some areas of Level 997 appear to be mirrored on the sky, and so on.
Level 997 seems to exist outside, and inside of the Backrooms, as mirrored version of other levels and The Frontrooms itself can rarely be spotted on the sky. Multiple reports of Wanderers touching these mirrored "realities" proved these mirrored realities are not just visual and auditory hallucinations. Some had even tried to climb the upside-down skyscrapers and mountains from the mirrored version of The Frontrooms. Nevertheless, these endeavors are proven to be unsuccessful due to the nature of the level.
Deserts…
The Desert
The Desert is the first sub-level and where Wanderers are sent to when entering Level 997. The Desert consists of hills, dunes, and rarely mountains covered with dry but viscous sand. The sand in Level 997's desert seems to be full of salt, indicating the Desert of Level 997 used to be an infinite ocean, similar to that of Level 7. Random houses, vending machines, computers, Almond Water, and parts of other levels (Level 0's walls and carpet for example) can be found slightly buried or totally buried under the sand. The fog in the Desert cannot be determined, as they change color every minute or so. It can anomalously change from purple, to green, to blue, and so on.
Although being a dry empty wasteland, the clouds on the sky occasionally rain fresh bottled water. It is useful for Wanderers to stock on water to keep them from dehydrating. Strangely, the sand on the Desert sub-level appears to be hydrophobic, meaning it does not absorb the water from the rain.
Pools
The Pools
The Pools is a secret area of Level 997 which can only be accessed through certain ways from the Desert. The Pools takes an appearance of small-sized outdoor pools with strange architecture resembling a house pool with a mixture of a public pool that repeat on each other on all directions for infinity. These pools are connected through small doors which are labeled as showers.
The time in The Pools seems to be stopped, as falling objects and still water splashes are commonly spotted. These objects reanimate again once a Wanderer touches it. The sky in the Pools is pitch black, and no flash light can even bright it up. The Pools is light up by unknown invisible light sources which are scattered around the Pools.
Roads
The Roads
The Roads is a sub-level of Level 997 which can be accessed through exit doors that can rarely appear in certain ways; a freestanding door; a bunker door; a door under a pool, and so on. It takes an appearance of an empty city without any buildings, skyscrapers, houses, and etc. The roads in the Roads sub-level are strange in nature, as they can turn in a sharp angle, or they can turn in a zig-zag pattern.
A weird property of the Roads sub-level are the rollercoaster-like roads which go up to the sky. These roads circle around the sky, and it is not supported by any pillars to hold it up. Its purpose as a road is long gone, as the M.E.G. had measured these roads to be too steep for a car and any other vehicles to drive or ride on.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
Due to the vastness and nature of Level 997, it is impossible to establish a community.
Entities
Occasional encounters with Hounds, Smilers, and the Windows, are common in Level 997. The only common entity which cannot be found in Level 997 are Facelings and Skin-Stealers.
Entrances And Exits
Entrances
Noclipping through certain walls in Level 996 might lead one to Level 997.
Exits
The only known exit is noclipping through certain pools will lead one to Level 237. These exits are more common in pools with small ceramic tiles.
